Foundation History
Augustyn Voloshyn Carpathian University was founded in 2001 as a non-state higher education institution with the goal of providing spiritually oriented, high-quality education based on national traditions, Christian values, and openness to the international academic space. The University has become an important educational center that integrates humanitarian, legal, philosophical, and theological education.
Eponymous Patron — Augustyn Voloshyn
The University is named in honor of Rev. Augustyn Voloshyn (1874–1945) — President of Carpathian Ukraine, Doctor of Philosophy, priest, educator, publicist, and prominent Ukrainian political, civic, religious, and academic figure. Through his self-sacrificing work, he defended Ukrainian statehood, language, culture, and spirituality. His legacy is a symbol of national service, intellectual leadership, and fidelity to Christian and humanistic values.
Key Stages of Development
– 2001–2003 – foundation, development of the first academic program, accreditation of initial specialties;
– 2004–2010 – launch of new faculties and institutes, beginning of public scientific activity;
– 2011–2016 – expansion of licenses, participation in international programs, strengthening ties with foreign educational institutions;
– 2017–2024 – digitalization of the educational process, launch of postgraduate (PhD) programs, establishment of research institutes and the university college;

Governance and Structure
Founder
Victor Bed is a Ukrainian scholar, theologian, Doctor of Law, Doctor of Theology, academician, and public figure. He is the initiator and founder of the Augustyn Voloshyn Carpathian University. His long-standing educational, scholarly, spiritual, and administrative activity laid a solid foundation for the development of the university as a center of national, spiritual, and legal revival.
President
Victor Bed provides strategic leadership of the university, shapes the general development policy, and is responsible for international cooperation, the spiritual mission of the institution, human resources support, legal representation, and the university’s academic and research compliance with international and national standards.
Rector
Maryna Dub heads the administrative and academic management of the university, coordinates the educational and research process, ensures the implementation of academic plans, internal organization, and interaction with government bodies, in particular the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, accreditation agencies, and international cooperation within the competence of the rector’s office.
